This is my first Rolex. My mother bought me this Rolex as a gift for my college graduation. For me, this piece is full of sentimental value as it is my first Rolex and also a commemoration and celebration that I have finished a certain phase in my life, which is my studies. This is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Reference 114200 with a Champagne Dial, featuring the 3130 movement and measuring at 34mm. At first, I was more interested in the 36mm Perpetual Oyster but realized that I actually didn't like the "double hour marker" – hence, I decided to go with the 34mm version. The size is quite similar and still fits perfectly on my wrist – like I mentioned before, I like small watches as they tend to look classier and more vintage.
On top of its personal and sentimental value to me, there’s an interesting story behind the actual purchase of this watch. When I first entered the store, I actually wanted to buy the blue dial version of the OP, but I didn't like Arabic numerals on the hour markers (3,6,9). Accidentally, this was watch just sitting at the corner of one of the display windows, which surprisingly made me fall in love at first sight. I immediately knew that this was for me, and decided on this watch; apparently, not only I like it but many people like it as well, and its been quite phenomenal, to say the least.
In conclusion, this is an extraordinary and versatile watch to wear on any occasions, be it a dressier look or something simple like shirt-and-jeans. The champagne dial breathes a certain ooze of elegance behind the simplicity of the Oyster Perpetual. Many people merely view this watch as “the cheapest Rolex” and often labeled as poor. However, I certainly don’t think so – poor people can’t buy Rolex in the first place. It doesn’t really matter if it’s just an entry level from Rolex. This watch is nothing short of incredible. #talktheclock
